The move by the government once again to push through such a legislation in haste without consulting the Rakyat is unacceptable. The National Security Council Bill 2015 deprives all basic human rights conferred by the Constitution and hence should be rejected as it is against the interest of the Rakyat.
PROHAM notes that there are more than enough legislation enacted by Parliament to handle any situation as anticipated by the current Bill and is therefore totally unnecessary.
The Bill also gives absolute power and immunity to the Executive and hence is unacceptable as there is no accountability to the Rakyat. Innocent victims are left with no remedy. The said Bill is also arguably unconstitutional.
PROHAM therefore urges Parliament not to pass the said Bill.
