Simon Sipaun on Proham & Human Rights Concerns in Malaysia

In the foreword Tan Sri Simon Sipaun (Proham Chairman) writes,

This publication entitled 'Proham and Human Rights Concerns in Malaysia' represents a snap-shot of Proham's activities for the years 2011 and 2012. It covers relevant issues affecting economic, social, cultural, civil and political rights. The first 4 parts incorporate reports on 14 roundtable discussions whilst part 5 contains 65 Proham press statements covering the period from March, 2011 to December, 2012.

The Society for the Promotion of Human Rights (Proham) was launched on 21st March, 2011 comprising mainly of former Suhakam commissioners and members of the Royal Police Commission. These people have performed their duties and responsibilities in the promotion and protection of human rights in several capacities during their official tenure. Following the expiry of their appointments they continued to contribute on a voluntary basis towards the creation of respect for human rights culture in Malaysia.
Proham has worked with all parties including the government, civil society and the private sector. It has operated based on the spirit and principles of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, other UN human right instruments and the Federal Constitution.
