Campaigners in India are pushing to introduce anti-racism legislation after
the recent killing in Delhi of a college student.
Nido Tania, 19, came from north-east India and was beaten by shopkeepers who
had ridiculed his appearance. He died the next day.
Indigenous people from the north-east are ethnically closer to Burmese and
Chinese people, and many report racism and discrimination in the rest of the
country.
Protesters say India's existing anti-discrimination laws are not enough to
tackle racist hate crimes.
